1) Constitution provides safeguards to religious and linguistic minorities as a part of our Fundamental Rights.

2) Indian constitution recognized that culture of majority influences the way in which society and government might express themselves. In such cases, size can be a disadvantage and lead to marginalisation of the relatively smaller communities

3) Thus, safeguards are needed to protect minority communities against the possibility of being culturally dominated by the majority. Constitution also protects them against any discrimination and disadvantage that they may face.
