The misery of the voyagers left them confused as to whether they should consider the albatross to be responsible for the trouble they were stuck in. They were extremely discontented with the then prevailing condition in the sea. The sails had dropped and the breeze had slowed down too. It seemed as if they were the only one who sailed into the 'silent sea'.
