The different cropping seasons of India are:

kharif: monsoon crops.

         require heavy rainfall

         ex: paddy(rice), corn and soybean

rabi: winter crops

       does not require much rainfall, heavy rains spoil the crop

       ex: wheat, barley and peas  

Zaid: summer crops

        planted b/w rabi and Kharif seasons

        ex: watermelons, pumpkin and guards
