The primary greenhouse gases in Earth's atmosphere are water vapor, carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, and ozone. There is nothing we can or should do about the first. It is controlled by the oceans and atmospheric conditions. The ones beyond carbon dioxide have a relatively minor effect. It is the significant increase in carbon dioxide that threatens to raise earth’s temperature to levels that will have serious and very long term effects on our climate and its consequences.
