The upper class (bourgeois, capitalistic owners of the means of production) and the lower class (proletariat) would engage in a class struggle

According to Karl Marx, a class is an economically constructed group of people who share common financial interests and find ways of fulfilling them.

Thus, he ideologically classified the society in a few groups, among which the two main groups are Capitalists and Workers.

The capitalists, also termed as bourgeoisie are the rich people who have their own production units and hire the laborers.

The workers are the poor people who work for the richer people, in return of money.
