two differences between a star and planet are:
1.Stars twinkle but planets do not twinkle because stars have their own light and due to atmospheric refraction and made up with gases and dust whereas planets do not have their own light and atmospheric refraction doesn't take.
2. stars are bigger then planets and stars remain their position unchanged whereas planient position change.
In our solar system,we can take example of star as Sun and planet as earth.
