presence of water and temperature affect the dense atmosphere because more the water evaporate more will be the moisture in the atmosphere which help in the formation of rain and hence more will be the temperature more will be the pressure in the atmosphere

The factor that mainly influenced that whether a planet could have a dense atmosphere is the mass of the planet. Planet which has a higher mass will have greater gravitational force of attraction towards the centre of the planet then a planet will have a lower mass.
Hence our planet who have a higher mass will have a thicker atmosphere and denser atmosphere then a planet who have lower the mass will have no or little atmosphere.
