K so lets do a simple experiment

So make a simple circuit of a bulb, a battery amd wires (u can see the above circuit diagram for that).

Now to check whether the object is a insulator or comductor just keep the object between the the two red points (remember both wire ends should touch the object).

So now u know, if the bulb glows its a conductor
If not it's an insulator.
