Polycythemia is an increase in the total RBCs mass of the blood called also Erythrocythemia, Hypercythemia, Hypererythrocythemia.
There are two types of polycythemia vera:-
(a) Primary polycythemia.
(b) Secondary polycythemia.
Primary is a myeloproliferative disorder of unknown etiology.
Secondary is a physiologic condition resulting from a deficient oxygen supply to the tissue.
