1). Principal clause

A principal clause has only one subject and finite verb and it can make complete sense.

Example. 1). The flower is beautiful.

2) Co - ordinate clause

If there are two or more clauses in the sentence and each of them a complete sence of their own than the first is called the principal clause and the other clause is called co - ordinate clause.

Example 1) Sumit pass but his brother failed in exam.

3) Subordinate clause

A subordinate clause is one that depend upon the principal clause for completion of its meaning.

Example 1). I know where he lives.
