Wax is used in a lot of industrial applications, such as production of candles, polishes, crayons, and impregnating substances. Much of this wax comes from petroleum, which is the largest single source of hydrocarbon waxes (Musser et al., 1998). Petroleum wax is a by-product in the petroleum industry.
