the causes of widspread poverty in india are :
1. lack of job oppurtunities in india causes many people to be jobless and thus poverty turns around to them.
2.lack of awareness amongst people to be literate and educated. education plays a vital role in making a country less suffering from poverty.
3.poor people are not so awaken and aware to utilise the money provided by the government to the them. they are spending those money unnecessarily and then facing the same problem within a couple of days or weeks.

so these are some of the major causes of widespread poverty in india.  hope it helps

The causes of widespread poverty in India are as follows:

a) Low level of economic development and economic exploitation under the British colonial administration was  a major reason of poverty in India. The policies of the British Government were not in favour of the development of industries like textiles , handicrafts etc.. This led to low rate of economic growth reducing job opportunities and bringing unemployment.

b)  The high growth rate of population in India was another reason for massive poverty. Failure to control population rate had reduced  per capita income.

c)  Land and other resources are not uniformly distributed among people living in rural and urban areas. Most of the resources go into the hands of the rich.Implementation of the  land reforms policy is inadequate.

d)  Proper economic support is lacked to the small farmers. Small farmers need money to buy agricultural inputs like seeds, fertilisers, pesticides. Instead of getting  low interest loans, they borrow money from money lenders who charges higher interest rate. They fall in debt cycle and become more poorer.
