A plastic which once set, does not become soft on heating and cannot be moulded a second time, is called a thermosetting plastic.

Example 
→ Bakelite
→ Melamine


A plastic which can be softened repeatedly by heating and can be moulded into different shapes again and again, is called a thermoplastic.

Example 
→ Polythene
→ Poluvinyl Chloride (PVC)

thermosetting plastic can be soft and by heating only once they are put into a mould and allowed to Harden on pulling they can be soft in again heating. example Melamine and bakelite
