what are tightly and loosely linked genes

Recombination is the process of creating new arrangements of genes, either by crossing over or by independent segregation of homologous pairs of chromosomes. The frequency of cross over is directly proportional to the distance between two genes. Hence, the higher the recombination frequency the greater is the distance between the two genes. Genes that are present on the same chromosome and are tightly linked shows very few recombinations as they are linked genes.Whereas genes that are not close to each other or which are loosely linked shows a higher degree of recombination between them.
