Transgenic animals are animals that have had a foreign gene deliberately inserted into their genome. Such animals are most commonly created by the micro-injection of DNA into the pronuclei of a fertilised egg which is subsequently implanted into the oviduct of a pseudopregnant surrogate mother.

Answer:

  • Transgenic Animals

The animals whose DNA has been manipulated for genetical engineering are known as transgenic animals.

✔Rats, rabbits, pigs, sheep, cow, monkey and fish are some examples of transgenic animals.

✔About 95% transgenic animals are mice.

✔ The first genetically modified monkey was ANDi. The GFP (green fluroscent protein) gene was inserted into the monkey's chromosome.

✔The genes of animals has been changed through genetical engineering for our benefits.
