Vertebrates have a well developed brain.Brain is set inside a bony box, known as cranium.Notochord is present in all chordates during sometime of development, it is formed on the dorsal side of the primitive gut in the early embryo stage.Most vertebrates possess guts with a non-terminal anus.

Vertebrates are the animals living in the phylum chordata, of which the spinal cord chord consists of small vertebrae.
These are five classes of vertebrates :-

2. Amphibians
3. Reptiles
4. Aves
5. Mammalia
Features are :-
1. They do have a good notochord.
2. The body is bilaterally symmetrical.
3. They have a real column on the vertebral.
4. They have a hollow dorsal nervous system.
