What are villi? What is their location and function?

they are very important parts and play a vital role in digestion.they are finger like projections and are present on the inner walls of small intestine.they are present to absorb the digested food and distribute it to the whole body through blood vessels.

Function of villi:-

increase the surface area for absorption

The villi are richly supplied with blood vessels which take the absorbed food to each and every cell of the body, where it is utilised for obtaining energy,building up new tissues and the repair of old tissues.
