What are wormholes?How can they be used for timetravell

Wormholes are paths in space and for example take an orange now piece a small hole straight from centre now an ant can travel through it quicker than to travel around it .Now this is what happens on a large scale in space and it can be used to save a lot of timee but not time travel.
