What are your thoughts about organ and/or whole body donation?

Organ or whole-body donation is a great and noble feat. There are different circumstances under which people donate their heart or kidney or eyes and so on. The ones donated while living, which is mostly offering one of the two kidneys to someone closely related, is definitely the greatest, since the donor does a sacrifice and continues to live without one vital organ and bears a lot of inconvenience as well.
The second category is where people voluntarily give it in writing that in the event of their pre-mature demise their organs may be harvested and donated to deserving people. This is also noble, but they are generally not alive to see their organs being implanted in another human being and to realize how grateful the other person is.
Whole body donation is normally meant for research and go to institutions for a larger good.
Whichever way one looks at it organ/whole body donation is a very noble and even godly act.
