The Indian subcontinent was an easy target for Babur, as it has always been divided on religious, ethnic, linguistic and caste differences, and thus it was easy for him to invade due to the opponents’ lack of unity.
He saw this as an opportunity to secure rule over a vast area easily and quickly, and so he took this opportunity to establish his own kingdom, which lead not only him to have great respect, wealth and an enduring legacy, however his descendants as well.
Now why did he feel that he had to rule and conquer at all? Well, Babur descended from two great conquerors: one being perhaps the greatest conqueror of all time, Genghis Khan; and the other not so known, Timur. This rich legacy that he belonged to would have served as a strong impetus for him to conquer land of his own
