Answer: Afforestation

Afforestation is a biodiversity restoration process. In which trees are planted in  an area from where the tree cover has been removed for availing forests resources like wood, medicines and others. Afforestation is useful in creating a forest cover in a region. It is an attempt to regenerate a habitat for native or native plant and animal species, hence, maintains biodiversity reserve of a region. Forests are carbon sink of the atmosphere and helps in reducing the atmospheric carbon dioxide, which is a chief air pollutant and responsible for increasing the global temperature. Trees undergoes transpiration in which the excess of water is lost by plants. The water from plant surface gets evaporated as water vapor to higher atmospheric layers. The accumulation of water vapor in the atmosphere are responsible for causing rain. Hence, afforestation is necessary for wildlife conservation and fighting against climate change.
