Diffusion is the net passive movement of particles (atoms, ions or molecules) from a region in which they are in higher concentration to regions of lower concentration. It continues until the concentration of substances is uniform throughout.

hi friend
here's your answer looking for

most of the people get confused between diffusion and osmosis.
so I will discussed about diffusion as well as Osmosis both here.

Diffusion :- it is the process , in which the particles of solid liquid or gas travels from the region of higher concentration to the region of lower concentration.

Example :- if you spray a perfume in a room, then after sometime you can smell it even you are away from it.
this is because the droplets of that perfume travels from higher concentration to the region of lower concentration in the room.

and as a result you can smell it even you are away from it.

Osmosis :- it is the special type of diffusion in which the liquid particle travels from the region of higher concentration to the region of lower concentration by the semipermeable membrane.

example :- by putting the resins in the water after an hour you can find that it would swelled.
this is also because of osmosis.

as the water particle travel from the higher concentration to the lower concentration through the semi permeable membrane of the resin.

the difference is only that the osmosis is take place with the semipermeable membrane and the diffusion can take place any else.

and Osmosis nothing but it is a special type of diffusion.

hope you are satisfied with my answer
