what can be seen when a strip of Cu metal is placed in a solution of silver nitrate

On the Cu plate ..the Ag (silver) will be coated and the solution will be of the copper nitrate.....

Here the metallic silver is displaced by more reactive copper and thus a shiny silver coting will be formed on the copper strip
