what care has to be taken while diluting the camphor water and why

Following precautions should be taken:
1. One should wear  safety gloves while holding acid.
2. Acid should be added to water and not water to the acid. The latter is a highly exothermic reaction and may break the container.
3. One should wear safety goggles and stay as far apart as possible from the acid.

Just as dilution of a concentrated acid with water is exothermic , similarly if we dissolves bases like NaOH or KOH in water the solution

is found to be hotter .This shows that dissolution of base in water is an exothermic process
