It benefits us by lowering the risk of diabetes, heart diseases and cancer too. Whole grain is a bomb of fibrous material. Eating fibre doesnt give us energy. In order to retain the fibre we must eat them raw, without peeling its skin. They can be eaten after boiling them, Fibrous food should be chewed throughly.
