The large disagreement, Sunnis believe Abu Bakr was the first and most worthy caliph. They are the majority level of Muslims, all around the world; they can be found in Pakistan, Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia, etc.
Shias believe Ali was supposed to be the next caliph, they believe that it is about blood relations. But Muhammad always went for the right person no matter if they are relatives or not. Ali was still a caliph, 4th, 1st is irrelevant. The reason why Abu Bakr and Umar went first is because Muhammad chose them. Shias can be found mostly in Iran, maybe some are in Iraq.
The Rashidun Caliphate went excellently with them.
Muhammad stated that: “If there was a Prophet after me, it would be Umar.”
Now, this is not saying that Ali was bad and Umar and Abu Bakr were great. It is just saying that all 3 became caliphs and promoted justice.
The reason for this disagreement: Who Muhammad chose before death. Shias say Ali, Sunnis say Abu Bakr. Remember though, it’s not a monarchy where “only royal blood” get the throne.
To conclude, we should not have wars and riots over this. We don’t declare war on Christians over beliefs, the same should apply to Shias.

Answer:it is because sunni Muslim think Abu bakar who had never done anything for thefavour of Islam was the caliph even prophet Mohammad never said that.
But his brother ali ibn e abi talib was the first imam and caliph after prophet mohammed and it was cleared from eid e ghadeer and prophet Mohammad also said that "Ana sherul ilm wa ali un baboha"
Means prophet mohammed is a city of knowledge while ali is its door
