no single causes ulcer.it is now clear that an ulcer is the end result of an imbalance between digestive fluids in the stomach and duodenum. Most ulcers are caused by an infection with a type of bacteria

To protect the body's tissues from this acid, it also secretes a thick layer of mucus.

If the mucus layer is worn away and stops functioning effectively, the acid can damage the stomach tissue, causing an ulcer.
