When white silver chloride is left exposed to sunlight then it turns black alongwith formation of Silver and Chlorine gas.

i.e. Silver Chloride decomposes to form Silver and Chlorine gas.

Equation : 2AgCl ---> 2Ag + Cl2

Hii There!!

When white Silver chloride exposed to sunlight it produces to black metallic colured Silver along with liberation of Chlorine gas.

Following is the chemical reaction taking place:-

◆◆2AgCl → 2Ag + Cl2

This is a photolysis decomposition reaction.
