Hello! ! !

Hey dear here is your answer______

■ I think your confusion lies in whether water or ice exists in zero degrees celsius.

■ What turns water into ice? Or what is the difference between water and ice at zero degree?

■ To turn water into ice or water into steam there is something called latent heat required.

■ Only by the exchange of that much amount of energy can you change the state to solid or gas from liquid.

■ You see the above graph .

■ Leg C and Leg A are connected by a horizontal LegB.

■ Till you remove that much amount of heat, there is no change in temperature.

■ Steam at 100 degree has more energy than boiling water at 100 degree.

■ Look at LegE and the x-axis for the energy.

■ The usual intuition is that the below graph should have looked like a straight line.

■ But only inside the solid/liquid/gas states do we have this straight line.

■ The point at which state changes is horizontal as change of state requires energy transfer.

■ Only with extra energy can you change boiling water to steam.

■ Only by extracting more energy can you change water at zero degree to ice at zero.

■ To answer your question, the amount of water = amount of ice as there is no sensible heat transfer. Look up for sensible and latent heat online.
