According to 'The Frog and the Nightingale' by Vikram Seth
The frog is manipulative, greedy, cruel, crafty, arrogant, heartless and devious.
He manipulates the innocent Nightingale into believing that he is the greatest singer and lyricist of Bingle Bog and that everyone appreciates his singing. He makes her work and suffer in adverse weather conditions to earn money. Yet his greed is insatiable. He is callous and does not think about anyone else other than himself. His evil designs lead the Nightingale to be doubtful of hee own capabilities and at least she faces death as a result of her innocence and her habit of trusting everyone easily. The Frog misuses her because she lacks self confidence and believes that he's a Mozart in disguise.
