What correction was made by Laplace in Newton's Formula for velocity of sound and why??

The correction was of the process.Newton suggested that the process of compression and rarefaction is slow so temperature remains constant but Laplace said that the process was fast and heat remains constant so when he calculated the value of sound it was 332.5which was near to experimental value but Newton's value was 16 % less than the experimental value.
