Answer:

A Letter to the President

In August 1939, Einstein wrote to U.S. President Franklin Roosevelt to warn him that the Nazis were working on a new and powerful weapon: an atomic bomb. Fellow physicist Leo Szilard urged Einstein to send the letter and helped him draft it.

Answer:

At the urging of a colleague, Einstein wrote a letter  to the American President, Franklin D. Roosevelt,  on 2 August 1939, in which he warned: “A single bomb of this type...exploded in a port, might very  well destroy the whole port together with some of  the surrounding territory.”
