What did Gandhi do after getting kicked off the train?

He was riding with a first class ticket, and the conductor wanted him to move to third class because he was not European. He refused to give up his seat, and was thrown off the train. Because he was black

There was no legitimate reason for Gandhi being thrown off the train.

It was not because he in a compartment meant only for white passengers. He was in a first class compartment and he held a first class ticket (although not one that included bedding). He was asked to relocate to a less desirable part of the train after a white man had complained but he refused. He was told he would be pushed off the train if he did not move.
