Helen's progress in lip-reading was not upto her teachers expectations. She was quite slow.Though she wished to speak like other people and worked hard too,but her progress but her progress didn't reach the desired mark.
It also give rise to some disappointment.
Moreover Helen found it difficult to learn arithmetic too. Helen still regarded arithmetic as a system of pitfalls. She hungs about dangerous frontier of "guess" avoiding with infinite troublr to her .When helen was not guessing, she was jumping at conclusions, and this fault further add to her dullness.
It increased Helen's difficulties more and more which caused her a lots of depression.
