Newton’s disc:

  • Newton’s Optical disc is a very popular experiment done by Sir Isaac Newton to demonstrate the optical mixing also called the temporal optical mixing or the Additive averaging mixing.
  • Newton disc contains the transparent films of different colours like violet, indigo, blue, green, yellow, orange and red.
  • This disc when rotated very quickly gave a white or off white colour.
  • There lies the optical mixing of the colours wavelength to give a white colour.
