He means that he is experienced now. And could not be cheated by any kind of tricks.

The convict said these lines to the Bishop because he was a person who has escaped from the prison after ten years of imprisonment. And in all these years, he has learned the tricks and cheats people use. So he used this line to warn the Bishop that he would be as good as dead if he played any tricks on him as he was no longer a fool to believe sweet words.
