The Blue Bead is a story written by Norah Burke. In this story, she is depicting a girl named 'Sibia' who is very poor and works hard with her family.

She, with her mother, went to the forest to collect grasses for their cattle and in that way, there were several Gujjars settlement was found.

One day, in the evening, when Sibia was coming back to her home, she heard a woman screaming. When she visited the place, she found a crocodile holding the leg of a woman in his mouth, and thus, blood was there everywhere.

Women were Gujjar from their appearance. She wore a trouser, wrinkled and tight at the ankles. She also adored silver jewelry with some beads on it.

Thus, Sibia attacked the crocodile's eye with her sickle and save the woman. Then she applied some sand to the wound and helped the woman to get back to her settlement.

While coming back to take her sickle, she found a blue bead in the river which was most suitable for the jewellery she wished to wear.

Sibia looked intently at the Gujar women because they looked different from the women of Sibia's community. They dressed up differently and wore a lot of silver ornaments
