The term ' unity in diversity ' is taken from the famous book ' Discovery of India ' by our former prime minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru.

He wants to explain that inspite of cultural, geographical and religious differences, India stood tall as a united country.

He Narrates incidents from ancient history, the mughal rule and British Raj to prove that unity is in our blood.

We have always been tolerant to variety of religions and social customs.

Unity in Diversity is a phrase taken from the book, The Discovery of India written by Jawaharlal Nehru.

Explanation:

  • With the phrase, "Unity in Diversity", Jawaharlal Nehru wanted to make people of India understand that we should accept opinions of all citizens and we should not create any form of differences between us based on culture, religion, language or traditions.
  • As this phrase was given by Jawaharlal Nehru after he became the Prime Minister of India (post-independence), this phrase is best suitable to describe India.
  • But as time passes, many incidences or events do not fit India's picture as Unity in Diversity of India.
  • Yes, Diversity is a fact of Human beings as we are the same or equal all me.
