The Welcome by is about a person name Chaturbhuj Babu who had come to the village after passing his MA Examination. Chaturbhuj had expected everyone to give importance to him on this great accomplishment and hoped that everyone will make a great fuss over him., however,  nobody talked about it, instead everyone in the village was interested in the plump Afghan cat that he had brought with him. This annoyed Chaturbhuj and he gets angry on everyone.

Explanation:

• Chaturbhuj was invited by the Zamindar. Actually the The Zamindar invited Chaturbhuj along with his cat so that he could show the cat to the boys. However, Chaturbhuj wanted to tell everybody about his accomplishment that he had completed his MA), hence for him the Zamindar's invitation was an opportunity to talk about his achievement.
• When the Zamindar asked Chaturbhuj what was he doing Kolkatta, Chaturbhuj had responded that he had  finished of his MA, which the Zamindar  thought was Meye, a word in Bengali meaning daughter, and that Chaturbhuj had finished of his daughter.
• Later when Chaturbhuj clarifies that MA means, a course after finishing of BA, then again the Zamindar thought that Chaturbhuj had got his daughter married of and had not informed anyone of it.

)  ‘Meye’  is  the  Bengali  word  which  sounds  like  M.A.  and  means  ‘daughter’. Similarly ‘Biye’ sounds like B.A.  and means  ‘marriage’ in Bengali. This is what the Zamidar understood by M.A. and B.A.
