Hi my dear friend,
‘The Folded Earth’ by Bengali author, Anuradha Roy (born 1967), takes one back to the chill, fresh air of a small Himalayan town, during the post-colonial era.
The story is set in the foothills of the Himalayas, in a small town called Ranikhet, after the departure of the British from India. It captures the heartache of a woman who has lost her husband in a trekking accident and how she copes with the loss, gradually settling back in life. Border tensions, religion and politics make the narrative interesting and realistic.
~Thank you
