The difficulty we encounter if we have data from two recording station only will be that we will not be able to locate the exact epicenter.
In order to understand the difficulty encountered by just two recording stations, we need to understand how a person who has to make a seismograph would work.
- For the construction of a seismograph, the epicenter will need to be triangulated.
- For making a triangle, data from atleast 3 recording stations will be required.
- The more the data, the more easier it will be to locate the epicenter.
Thus, we can conclude that we need data from atleast 3 or more recording station inorder to locate the epicenter.
