Diffraction is the pending of wave around a barrier or an object which is along the direction of the wave while refraction is a change in a
direction of a wave as it moves from one medium to another due to difference in speed of light in the mediums and difference in optical densities of the mediums . Both diffraction and refraction involve wauves and require a medium to travell in.
