Robert Clive introduced the dual government system in Bengal in 1765 which lasted upto 1772 under this system mir jafar for was placed on the Throne and handed over the powers of military and criminal jurisduction while the company exercised control over revenue collection and in this method the company has no responsibilities but all Powers while the Nawab has all responsibilities but no power or resources to run the administration.This system of dual government made the computer virtual ruler of Bengal because of which Bengal suffered very badly during this period
