Answer:

Stop playing “follow the leader”. Vote libertarian or constitutionalist candidates that respect the Constitution. Encourage others to do the same.

Contact your state representative and demand a state bill addressing amendments to the US Constitution, Together, enough states in agreement can amend the Constitution.

Amendments that would help “fix” the federal government.

Repeal the 17th Amendment, so that US Senators once again represent the States. US representatives already represent the People (in theory at least).

Establish term limits for ALL members of Congress, so that venile elitist government officials can’t continue to gather power to themselves, reward their cronies who in return purchase the Congressional position once again. Currently, most members of Congress aren’t elected- they are re-elected, time and again, financed by those who don’t have the interests of the country in mind.

Establish term limits for Supreme Court Justices, and provide a Super Majority override by the States and Congress, thus preventing “legislation from the bench”.

Limit Federal Spending to prevent out-of-control spending.

1.) Repeal the 17th Amendment, so that US Senators once again represent the States. US representatives already represent the People (in theory at least).

2.) Establish term limits for ALL members of Congress, so that venile elitist government officials can’t continue to gather power to themselves, reward their cronies who in return purchase the Congressional position once again. Currently, most members of Congress aren’t elected- they are re-elected, time and again, financed by those who don’t have the interests of the country in mind.

3.)Establish term limits for Supreme Court Justices, and provide a Super Majority override by the States and Congress, thus preventing “legislation from the bench”.

4.) Limit Federal Spending to prevent out-of-control spending.

5.) Establish firm guidelines for Federal Taxation. Set the date for Income Tax Returns as the first Monday in November, so that the experience is still fresh in the voter’s mind on Election Day.

6.) Eliminate early voting altogether, and absentee voting to those American citizens actually forced to be overseas on election day. Require photo ID to vote, not a hardship in a country already requiring photo ID for everything we do. Require recent proof of actual residence in the voting precinct.

7.) Delineate the Federal Government’s ability to regulate Commerce to International and real, actual Interstate affairs as per the Constitution.

That’s just for beginners. The fact is governments tend to gather to themselves more power and become despotic over time. The Federal Government cannot be expected to correct the current abuses, so it’s going to have to be done by the States in opposition to entrenched power.
