The word “Development” can be used in various perpective. Me or anyone in this world uses this word in many ways. Following are the list:
Software Engineers: As a software engineer, I use this word like development of applications, websites, softwares and etc. Developers with the help of languages i.e, C++, Java, Php etc develop software that we are using.
Social scientists: For social scientists, development has different use. They keep in mind the social indicators such as, health, education, and child labour. Then, with the help of mentioned indicators, they draw a development graph of the country.
Economists: Economists consider development on the basis of the statistics of inflation, poverty, unemployment etc. If the data shows that the unemployment ratio is declining then for them it is a development.
Legal development: For lawyers, development is when judiciary gets their due power. For instance, Maulvi Tamizuddin Khan v. Federation of Pakistan, Benazir Bhutto v. the President of Pakistan. These are the examples in which judiary managed to win the cases from the powerful people of the time. Recently, Justice Qazi Faez Isa’s report after Quetta carnage is another example of legal development.
Politicians: Political development is when some reforms introduced. For example, 18th amendment is a political development because it suggests devolution of a power. Furthermore, lately, merger of FATA with Kpk also comes under the umbrella of political development.
Infrastructure: construction of roads, making it 6 lane from 4 road, development in railways, and many other examples which are part of CPEC is also a form of development.
