Strait is a thin narrow channel of sea which divides into two land masses.

Explanation:

For an example there is a Palk strait in between India and Sri Lanka to separate two country. It is a narrow land of body which connects two water bodies. There is a Strait which is formed due to the tectonic changes i.e Strait of Gibraltar which connects Mediterranean Sea and in other side the Atlantic Ocean.
