Akbar, (born October 15?, 1542, Umarkot [now in Sindh province, Pakistan]—died c. October 25, 1605, Agra, India), the greatest of the mughal emperors of India. He reigned from 1556 to 1605 and extended Mughal power over most of the Indian subcontinent.
Navaratnas or Nauratan was a term applied to a group of nine extraordinary people in an emperor's court in India. The well-known Navaratnas include the ones in the courts of the legendary emperor Vikramaditya, the Mughal emperor Akbar, and the feudal lord Raja Krishnachandra.
Nine of sale these courtiers were known as Akbar's navaratnas (or nine jewels).
