Iqta was an Islamic practice of tax farming. Now tax farming implies to the responsibility of collecting of taxes by groups . it was also known as feudal system but it was not heridetary by law. Under Iqta System, the land of the empire was divided into several large and small tracts called Iqta and assigned these Iqtas to his soldiers, officers and nobles. In the beginning, an Iqta was based upon salary.the holder of these iqtas or lands were known as iqtadar .
