The English east india company was faced with the problem of how and from whom to collect taxes. They carried on the adminstration with the help of Nawab's officials. This was called 'Dual Government'. Under this system, the adminstration of the kingdom was in the hands of the Nawab, but the control of the revenue was in the hands of the Company.
