Tth Battle of Buxar was a singularly important event in Indian history . The rich eastern provinces went to the British with its huge resources .

Under this system , the administration of the kingdom was in the hands of the nawab but the control of the revenue was in the hands of the Company . This meant that there were two rulers in the same administration . The Company benefited from this .

In the system of Government , neither the Nawab nor the English cared for the welfare of the people . The dual government was finally abolished in 1772 . Bengal was brought under direct rule of the company .

The Battle of Buxar (aka Baksar war) was fought between Mir Qasim , Nawab of Bengal with combined armies from the different Indian States - Awadh , Bengal , Mughal empire and East India Company , led by Hector Munro , 8th of Novar . Shuja - ud - daula (nawab of awadh) , Shah Alam II (Mughal Emperor) and Raja Balwant Singh from Kashi formed an alliance with Mir Qasim to have combat against East India Company .
